TAFM to Rollout New Membership ID

As announced during LOSAR gathering, TAFM is pleased to announce new membership ID for its members. Tibetan community members have great opportunity to renew your membership and receive your new ID. TAFM discontinued card based system and instead replaced it with booklet to better serve the need of the organization and to keep its cost down in future.

If you are a continuing member we recommend that you bring your 2011 receipt so we can verify your status more quickly.

About 350 community members responded positively to TAFM's call for new application ID this past Saturday and Sunday. Some have already received the new ID - others will be ready for pickup by next Saturday. We have several new applicants as well!

TAFM would like to wrap up issuing ID before the end of March. Processing fee before the end of March is $5.00. After March it will jump to $10. You may visit the office during following times:

Mondays - 9:30AM  -  2:30 PM

Wednesdays - 9:30AM  -  2:30 PM

Fridays - 9:30AM  -  2:30 PM

Saturdays - 9:30AM  -  2:30 PM (Except on March 10)

Please note that you will need to pay 2012 membership due to receive your new ID.

(Application fee: $ 5.00 – To defray the cost of the photo print, ID booklet etc.)

Your membership is very critical to the survival of the community center. Your support and dedication have helped TAFM to oversee the center's maintenance and also sponsor many events beneficial to the community. TAFM remains one of the most vibrant and self-sustaining community organizations in Minnesota and certainly among the North American Tibetan Associations. Several distinguished leaders  have praised the organization’s work. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has even noticed and said that He would like to visit Minnesota again. TAFM is committed to grow its membership and your cooperation is greatly appreciated. As the center's usefulness and event capacity have outgrown its size, we hope that with your continued support we can have a larger space in near future to accommodate critical needs expressed for the Tibetan Culture School among others.

To help you understand TAFM's membership process, here are the basic guidelines:

  1. You must be 18 years of old at the time of application.
  2. Regular membership is $36 annually. Super members can choose from tier based payment that give you more benefit if you would like to contribute more. Please inquire within if interested. In 2011 we had several super members that paid from $75 to $1000.
  3. Continuing members can update membership for the current year. You also have an opportunity to pay in lump sump for few years and receive discount. Please inquire within if interested.
  4. New membership is based on your Minnesota resident status. If you have been living in Minnesota for more than two years and wish to enroll now, we respectfully ask you to pay for the past two years. As a community organization this helps to keep the concerns of members in check. TAFM encourages everyone to enroll and keep your membership up to date. This only applies to those who are well above 18 years of age.
  5. Anyone new to Minnesota can become members by paying for the current year.

Benefits of membership:

  1. You are a proud member of an esteemed community organization.
  2. Receive discounts on hall rental.
  3. Eligible to vote for TAFM board of directors during its annual election provided you have kept your Greenbook payment up to date.
  4. Receive Tibetan Culture School and Performing Arts group enrollment benefit.
  5. Discounted price on selected TAFM events such as LOSAR celebration.
