The Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota (TAFM), in collaboration with the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), successfully hosted an inspiring event promoting the work of renowned Tibetan poet, writer, translator, and publisher, Bhuchung D. Sonam.
This meaningful talk show, held on Friday, November 1, at Mia, centered on the theme of Writing in Exile: Intersection of Literature, Displacement, and Resilience. Bhuchung la’s eloquent reading highlighted his profound reflections on the Tibetan experience, as well as the complexities of adaptation and resilience in the face of displacement.
The event featured a dynamic conversation between Bhuchung la and Dr. Tenzin Namdul, Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota’s Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing. Dr. Namdul la, who moderated the session, enriched the discussion with her thought-provoking insights and thoughtful engagement.
Bhuchung la’s storytelling has opened a new avenue for Tibetan literature, capturing the evolving realities of the Tibetan diaspora in India and beyond. As a co-founder of a publishing house in Dharamsala, his work continues to empower and inspire voices in exile.
TAFM extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Namdul la for her gracious presence and invaluable contribution to the event.
If you missed this event, we encourage you to explore Bhuchung D. Sonam’s work and support initiatives that foster the preservation and growth of Tibetan literature and culture.
