Join us!
Historic First: Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday Year to be Celebrated at the Minnesota State Capitol for the first time in history, the Minnesota State Capitol will host a landmark celebration marking the 90th birthday year of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, a global symbol of peace, nonviolence, and resilience. Organized by the largest Tibetan religious and community organizations in the U.S.

WHEN: Monday, March 24, 2025 | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
WHERE: The Rotunda, Minnesota State Capitol

This special gathering will bring together:
* Representatives from the Dalai Lama’s offices in India and Washington, DC
* Minnesota’s elected officials and distinguished inter-faith and community leaders
* Over 50 Tibetan monks from across North America leading ceremonial prayers
* A striking photo exhibition chronicling His Holiness’ extraordinary life and teachings
The year’s theme “Gratitude” reflects a collective appreciation for His Holiness’ lifelong advocacy for Tibet and his universal message of compassion and justice. Minnesota is home to one of the largest Tibetan communities in the U.S., alongside Nepalese, Bhutanese, and Mongolian communities numbering over 10,000 families who have enriched the state’s cultural landscape and remain deeply connected to his teachings. This event also comes at a pivotal moment in Tibetan history days after His Holiness released his latest book, Voice for the Voiceless, where, for the first time, he publicly declared that his reincarnation will be born outside of China, in the free world. His statement directly challenges Beijing’s long-standing claim to control his successor and reaffirms Tibet’s ongoing fight for justice.
